2003. The design evokes the woven patterns found on many Māori products particularly Māori meeting halls. The pattern on the draw fronts reflect the “Taniko” belts ‘ worn on grass skirts ‘Piupiu’. The carcass is made in bleached solid Maple. The parquetry pattern is made from bird’s eye maple, red pigmented birds eye maple and ebony laid onto a Maple front. The handles have maple tops and wenge bottoms (giving a shadow illusion) with Paua centres. The dovetailed draw sides and base are made in cedar to give a lovely smell on opening the draw.
