Designed for the office of the Masters of Design Management at Unitec. The brief stated that the table upon close inspection must create a sense of curiosity’. This was achieved by using an “impossible” dovetailed bridle joint. The joint is emphasised by the choice of contrasting materials. How can these parts be made and assembled? It is dovetailed in all three planes and looks impossible to put together. The underside ends are deeply tapered to expose the ply laminations. This further relates to the brief the to looks thick from the front elevation and thin from the side but is actually thick. Made with Jarrah legs and Maple rails with Birds Eye Maple veneered onto a birch plywood core. L x 1800 x W 400 x H 950
